I have a goal to read the entire Bible this year using the Bible Recap and Group Me to hold me accountable. This has been a long time goal so I am thankful to partner with this group and hope to finish it strong. I am far behind but not giving up.
Another Bible truth is doing a study with other women. Bible studies are out of my comfort zone since I am a woman outside the mold…but women are women and we can all learn from each other. Right now our study is Truth Filled and learning how to preach the truth to yourself.
However, you get the Word I pray the Lord will reveal His truths and wisdom and you grow to know Him better.
I count having my first child in my mid-thirties a blessing because I had a lot of time to think about cool things I wanted to do as a parent. One cool thing is dressing a baby up like a man.
That hat was my grandfather’s so that look is extra special to my heart.
Another fave thing was taking the month to month pics the first year. This process was super hard and only got harder each month but love looking at the 12 months all together.
Poor kid endured big dress ups on every holiday! Here are some faves:
But two more cool things that I only do because I had lots of time to think about kids is….1. I have a Dr Seuss book that each of his teachers sign and I will give it to him at graduation. It is a great reminder of all the teachers that poured into him each year. I keep a school picture from each year so we can see how he grows. 2. Keep a frame with those school pictures as art on the wall.
I want this to be a daily reminder the time goes fast so make the memories and track them for the future. Thankfully I started these early so I have the keepsakes needed.
I am sure there are so many other ways to track the memories. Do you have any special ones you do?
Love we celebrate consistency and commitment. Celebrating better mental health. Celebrating doing something to help my Lupus…exercise helps! Celebrating dropping two sizes…never intended to lose weight and need to gain more muscle…but it happened so may as well celebrate it. Celebrating confidence. Celebrating doing something for me!
My workouts are my time to choose myself. Thankful for 150 today!
When I tell people that my son has swim lessons, I get asked, “I thought he already could swim?” My answer is “Yes, he can swim like a fish…but he can always be better.”
I believe you can never be too good of a swimmer. Every day swimmers are drowning. A big story that made the news recently is Naya Rivera drowning. She was a swimmer that got tired and sadly her body gave out. It could happen to any of us.
My swimmer’s class consists of proper breathing, survival swimming, treading water, back stroke and floating on your back in a way that saves energy. He is learning breathing and positions that can save a tired body.
I was snorkeling a few years ago and got very winded. I could not touch and the boat was quite a ways off. Thank the Lord I knew to float on my back because it saved my life. I was on the verge of panicking when I realized I was tired. Sinking in this water would have been deadly…that back float gave me what I needed to make it to the boat.
I want him out of his comfort zone.
This type of swimming is what I need my kid to know. How to breathe and use his body wisely in the water. To be smart with his energy for the days he goes swimming without me. So yes my fish-like child is taking swimming lessons and I encourage other kids to do the same.
I am a teacher and I worry often about the education of my son. He struggles academically with reading and math. He has documented disabilities and sensory issues. He has ADHD…but this kid is SO creative!
He is a kid that sees things not as what they are, but what they could be. He was created by God and gifted to us through adoption. I was made to parent him, but his academic struggles stress me out since creativity is not tested.
I wish they tested being awesome because he would score off the charts! I wish school would focus on the creative mind…the mind you cannot teach-it is just there and it is valuable and priceless and will change the world. Until then, I will be his biggest fan and prepare him for a education that is narrow focused, but he is more than that.
You can tell I am a teacher since I have the time for three posts in a day!
Last summer I tried a new workout to stay out of a pandemic funk, heal my body from the negative effects of Lupus, build muscle and please my husband who loves fitness (gotta be honest). A year later and I am still going strong!
I find I look forward to it most weeks and I am seeing results. I have built new friendships and look better in my jeans so there is a winning all around. Added bonus love is I am seeing results with energy teas and protein shakes…all of it together and I can see and feel the difference.
I am a small girl so I am hoping the protein shakes will help me to look stronger, but I love how I feel and that was my biggest goal from the beginning.
Camp Gladiator promotions are based on referrals and I have none so if you want to try it then I can get you the info! Virtual options make a workout from anywhere possible! Even if you have another workout you love, just keep moving and I will be cheering you on all the way. Summer body is no joke and bikinis can be brutal…we are all doing the best we can!
I might be addicted…it is hard to say. However, I love the feel and smell of this skincare line so I keep coming back.
I do not sell it
Everything I say here is as a customer only. But when you find something you like then you share it. For instance, I love Jesus so I share my testimony of his goodness and grace. I love skincare products that make me feel like I am trying not to look over 41 so I share it.
As you can see…I buy it a lot. But I will share my fave 3 used most often.
1. Precleanse spray. I struggle to wash my face so their spray helps me out by doing the tough job without the cold water.
Exfoliant. My face is rough and this scrub feels like microdermabrasion. It gets to the core of removing dead skin to reveal the soft stuff underneath.
Healing body oil with the radiant hair oil scent. The smell makes me feel rich while the oil repairs sun damage and my face soaks it all up to stay hydrated.
Honorable mention is the peppermint face wash and my newest product is a citrus face lotion. Again, I am a scent girl! Comment if interested in a link to see prices, reviews and learn more…but again…I do not sell it so I get nothing in return!
Growing old is tough. It is harder when men (aka my husband) seem to get better with time. We ladies gotta do what we can to stay young or at least feel young. Being proactive by taking care of my skin is the first step.
I also find I do my best self care over summer, but hopefully will build habits that carry over!
Summer time is here! As a teacher, these two months (calendars keep changing) are the reason the other 8 months are worth it. Time for family. Time for rest. Time for recharging and reflecting. Time for ALL the appointments.
The temptation may be to do more. More studying. More planning. More getting ready for next year. I say, “Stop!”
Use this time for self care and strengthening your personal wellness and health. Focus on the you that gets forgotten 10 months of the year as you focus on the duties and unwritten contract hours that you never get paid to do. Do not feel guilty for just being.
Teachers are dropping this profession daily so celebrate you are still here, still teaching and commit to the summer “off” before returning. Of course we do our professional development and other areas to grow…but let it be okay to not do that every day as well!
